Two free antivirus programs got the title of best of the year

Antivirals are an essential component of our computers. Microsoft includes Windows Defender in Windows 10, and it already exists with the best antivirus software on the market. However, there are many other alternatives that offer other improvements, such as reduced resource consumption, increased customization, or even better protection. Now, two free antivirus programs have been awarded the best antivirus award compared to other paid antivirus programs.

We are talking about AVG and Avast, which got the "highest rated product" stamp by AV-Comparatives for 2020. It is therefore imposed on other great solutions in the paid market.

In tests, AV-Comparatives analyzed the ability to protect against real online threats, thousands of modern malware, defense against targeted attacks, and whether full protection has been provided without slowing down the computer. Thus, although all programs reach an acceptable level in all categories, some have surpassed others, Avast and AVG in their free departments were the best. This is the best ranking:

  • Avast Free Antivirus
  • AVG Free Antivirus
  • Avira Antivirus Pro
  • Bitdefender Internet Security
  • ESET Internet Security
  • Secure SAFE
  • G DATA Internet Security
  • K7 Total Security
  • Kaspersky Internet Security
  • McAfee Total Protection
  • Microsoft Windows Defender
  • NortonLifeLock Norton 360 Deluxe
  • Panda Free Antivirus
  • Total AV Antivirus Pro
  • Total Defense Essential Antivirus
  • Trend Micro Internet Security

VIPRE Advanced Security
With regard to both, the company says they are the most balanced, providing great protection against threats, and a modern and easy-to-use interface, by expert and novice users.

Both antivirus programs also received the recommended product seal from AV-Test, which produces several reports annually analyzing protection, performance, and ease of use of antivirus software. In the latest analysis, both types of antivirus software got 6 out of 6 in protection and ease of use, but only 5.5 out of 6 in performance, since they slowed down the opening of the famous web pages a little more than the rest of the antivirus software on the market.
