3 Ways to Stop Ads Appearing on Samsung Phone

Samsung has been including ads in its smartphones for some time, appearing on the lock screen, notification center, or in some of its original apps, such as Weather App, Samsung Pay, and when using its voice assistant (Bixby), but with the launch of the new Galaxy S21 phones, it's worse than ever, with different types of ads appearing in almost every original Samsung app.

Although the company offers no official way to permanently disable these ads on their phones, there are still some ways you can minimize their visibility.

1- Stop personalized ads on Samsung phone:

The first thing you should do to prevent ads from appearing on Samsung phone is to unsubscribe from custom ads and marketing software from the company, where you probably agreed to sign up for this program unintentionally when you set up your phone for the first time, to do so, follow the following steps:

  • Open Settings on your Samsung Galaxy.
  • Scroll down until you reach the Privacy option, and then press it.
  • On the next screen, tap the Customization Service option.
  • Switch the button next to the Customized Ads and Direct marketing option to off mode.

Note: After opting out, Samsung will no longer be able to use functions, such as: your location to display personalized ads, and while ads within apps will not be disabled altogether, unsubscribing to the company's marketing program should limit the rate at which ads appear in Samsung apps in your phone.

2. Turn off marketing information in Samsung apps manually:

To limit the ads that appear to you, you can go to each of Samsung's original apps installed in your phone individually and disable the ad appearance tool within each app, and to do so, follow the following steps:

  • Open any of Samsung's original apps, such as Samsung Pay.
  • On the app's home screen, press the three lines at the top left.
  • Click on Settings at the bottom of the list.
  • On the screen that appears to you, switch the button next to the Marketing Information option to off mode.

Note: With this setting off in the app, you won't see any ad notifications on your phone or promotional
messages in your email, and while doing this may be a daunting task because you'll have to activate it in each Samsung app individually, it's worth it if you want to reduce the visibility of ads in your phone.

3- Disable promotional notifications on your Samsung phone:

In addition to ads that appear within Samsung apps, there is also the problem of ads appearing in the notification center in your phone, whether they are promotions for a Samsung product itself, or third-party ads, such as: retail companies, and to disable it, follow the following steps:

  • Open the Settings app on your Samsung phone.
  • Click on the Notifications option, then click on the (More) option.
  • At the top of the screen, press the downward arrow, and then choose the (newest) option most recently.
  • Click on the All option.
  • Scroll down, then tap the Galaxy Store option.
  • On the screen that appears to you, switch the button next to the Promotions option to off mode.

  • Go back to the list of apps on the previous screen, and then tap the Samsung Pay app.
  • Scroll down to reach the Promotions section, then switch the button next to the Show notifications option to off mode.
  • Go back to the app list again, press the Samsung Push Service option and then switch the button next to the Show notifications option to off mode.

Now, with the previous steps, you can be sure that the notification center in your phone will be free of unhelpful product ads from either Samsung or retailers.
