Zoom seeks to add email service to compete with Google and Microsoft

The video conferencing software publisher wants to expand its business by offering an email service to its users as well as a calendar app.

Zoom has been propelled to the star of video conferencing solutions thanks to the Covid-19 crisis, and can soon compete with Google and Microsoft by launching its own email service, as well as the calendar app.

According to information sources, Zoom is developing a webmail solution that has been developed sufficiently to start the first tests early next year. Much other evidence, such as posting a job ad to work on chat jobs, suggests that the company is considering creating a full range of applications for companies.

If the information is proven, Zoom will enter direct competition with two industry giants already in place to offer full packages to users of applications: Microsoft with Microsoft Group 365, and Google with Workspace, both of which offer e-mails, a calendar application plus an instant chat solution and video conferencing.
