Samsung 870 Evo SSD offers higher speeds and lower prices

Samsung has announced the launch of the 870 Evo SSD, the company's latest SATA solution in the best-selling Consumer SSD series.

The new disc combines best-in-class performance and reliability, making it an ideal storage solution for a wide range of consumers from ordinary computer users to IT professionals.

KyuYoung Lee, General Manager, Samsung Electronics, said: "The new HARD DRIVE marks the culmination of our SATA SSD line and offers a compelling combination of performance, reliability and compatibility for laptop and desktop users, as well as nas network storage users.

The 870 Evo SSD features the latest V-NAND and the company's controller, allowing it to reach maximum sata reading and writing speeds of 560 and 530 Mbps, respectively.

With a large SLC variable buffer, TurboWrite's smart drive technology helps maintain maximum performance levels.

The new disk also provides an improvement of approximately 38 percent in random reading speed compared to the previous 870 Evo SSD, allowing improved user experiences when multitasking, web browsing, or computer take-off.

Samsung has designed all SSD components internally to ensure that each part works together coherently, harnessing its expertise in storage technologies.

The 870 Evo SSD provides an improvement of approximately 30 percent in sustainable performance compared to the previous 870 Evo SSD model, plus a class-leading terabyte rating, with a limited 5-year warranty for the 4TB model.

In addition to exceptional performance and reliability, the new disc provides great compatibility with many computing devices thanks to the 2.5-inch SATA interface.

Furthermore, with energy-saving sleep mode, the 870 Evo SSD is compatible with devices that support the modern standby function of Windows, providing additional convenience for computer users.

The new 870 EVO is also designed with environmental sensitivity, by reducing the carbon footprint throughout the entire production process, and expanding the consumer choice of more environmentally friendly products.

The new 250GB disc is available from January 2021 at $50, 500GB at $80, 1TB at $140, 2TB at $270 and 4TB at $530.
