reviews Acer Predator Helios 300

The Acer Predator Helios 300 is a great video game device with a mid-price, excellent metal design, and an amazing GeForce GTX 1060 graphics card.

In fact, the Predator Helios 300 Acer has managed to fill a huge gap in the market since the predator brand emerged more than two years ago. It was relatively the best among the Predator Triton and Nitro Gaming series.

The 2020 version now comes in two versions: one with 16GB DDR4 memory plus the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 graphics card and the 6GB GDDR 6 VRAM at a price of AED 6,999/$5104. The other includes 8GB GeForce RTX 2070 graphics cards plus 24GB DDR4 memory, which means you have an RTX gaming system that also works as an alternative to your desktop.

The Helios 300 has an innovative metallic design with the Acer logo at the front of the panel. The brand has made a long-standing name for itself and has proven itself among competitors in the market, and only Acer's logo has been able to demonstrate the confidence that the company has succeeded in building in previous years. There were some conscious decisions made about the games.

The device's connectivity ports are no different from last year's version, the two versions consist of the first-generation USB 3.2 Type-A ports with a capacity of 5 Gbps, a port for audio cables, a Killer E2600 Ethernet port on the left side, a 10Gbps USB-C port, a USB-A port, HDMI port and Mini-DisplayPort for video output on the right side, and the charger port connecting the device to the rear power source is located in the rear power source. It is worth noting that the device lacks one of the main components, the SD card reader.

The device features a great 1080p display and a 144Hz refresh rate, which is suitable for first-person shooting enthusiasts, but I also enjoyed playing Ubisoft's latest games when they're on the device. Moreover, the screen response time is 3 milliseconds, which is a great feature for competitive shooting games.

The Acer Predator Helios 300 features an RGB keyboard that radiates four colors: red, yellow, green, and blue, which can be changed with a predator. There are some notable changes in keyboard design where we see that WASD keys, arrow keys, and a Predator button are thicker to help with games. The device also features a great easy-to-use touchpad.

Predator Helios 300 gives you all the power you might need, ensuring it's used for at least two years. The device supports three M.2 SSD port, a 512GB SSD storage disc, and a 2.5-inch drive bay, so you can get extra storage space of 3-2TB. Then you can play Call of Duty without much concern, and 150GB is expected to be consumed in a very short time.

The device works for 6 hours continuously and in fact, this is the standard expected from a great device with great potential like this and here it should be noted that this version is much better than last year's version in terms of overall performance. The device can view gaming videos in 1080p high resolution and features 4K technology.

The one-touch operating frequency can be increased by pressing the Turbo button in the device that slightly increases CPU and GPU speed, and some noise is expected from the device, but it won't be a problem for you at all if you're busy with the game and wearing headphones.

Turbo increases processor speed — as we mentioned in the previous paragraph — allowing you to enjoy your games to the fullest in high resolution and quality for the RTX 2060 graphics cards I used in my device. If you're using RTX 2070 cards, it's not a problem playing games as you'll also enjoy 4K.
For the heat of the laptop, the device remains relatively cool but may heat up a little while playing, and it is recommended to place the device on a cool hard surface while using it. In any case, the Acer Predator Helios 300 has outstanding thermal performance unmatched thanks to its excellent design and thick structure.
