MediaTek launches Dimensity 1100 and 1200 chips

Taiwan's MediaTek has launched Dimensity 1100 and Dimensity 1200 chips for leading 5G support phones.

A few years ago, the focus was usually on Qualcomm, Samsung and Huawei when talking about the leading processors for mobile devices.

The Taiwanese company has tried to enter this field aggressively for years with the Helio X series, and has made adjustments with the new Dimensity 1000, which was launched in November 2019, and followed it up with Dimensity 1000 Plus in May 2020.

These chips were manufactured in accordance with the 6 nm process of TSMC, which represents an upgrade to the 7 nm process used in the manufacture of Dimensity 1000 Plus.

Dimensity 1200 and Dimensity 1100 features a built-in 5G modem that supports 5G NSA and SA modes, Dynamic Spectrum Sharing DSS, dual Standby 5G SIM cards and VoNR support.

There is also 5G HSR and 5G Elevator mode for a more reliable 5G connection across networks.

Both have eight cores, but there is a slight difference between them, with the Dimensity 1200 featuring a main Cortex-A78 core with a 3GHz frequency, while the other three performance cores are cortex-A78 with a 2.6 GHz frequency.

The Dimensity 1100 features four of these performance cores, while the other four are the Cortex-A55 with a frequency of 2.0 GHz.

The GPU, both of which come with nine cores of arm Mali-G77, which supports HyperEngine 3.0 gaming technologies, includes 5G connectivity and data synchronization.

In addition to enhancing multi-touch to increase touchscreen response, the full range also provides video tracking support in games and augmented reality applications, and supports superior power supply at the point of contact.

Dimensity 1200 supports an update rate of 168 Hz with FHD+, while Dimensity 1100 supports an update rate of 144 Hz with FHD+ resolution, while in QHD+ resolution, both up to 90 Hz.

Both segments also support HDR10+ video playback and AV1 decryption, as well as Bluetooth 5.2 technology, as well as real wireless stereo sound with extremely low transmission time and LC3 encryption for high-quality broadcasting and less music transmission time via wireless earphones.

The Dimensity 1200  DIMensity 5P processor supports imaging sensors up to 200 Megapixels(individual), or up to 32 Megapixels+ 16 Megapixels (dual), and features 4K HDR video recording for greater dynamic range.

The Dimensity 1100 DIMensity 5P processor supports imaging sensors up to 108 MP (individual), or up to 32 MP + 16MP (dual), and features 4K HDR video recording for greater dynamic range.

Both support the camera ai features, such as a night-time panorama of Artificial Intelligence technology, a multi-person Bokeh effects with Artificial Intelligence, ai noise reduction, HDR capabilities, and enhanced AI-enhanced video playback features.

A new hexagonal artificial intelligence processor called MediaTek APU 3.0 for AI computing, with improved tasks scheduled to reduce latency and improve energy efficiency.

The first devices with the new Dimensity 1100 and Dimensity 1200 chipsets are on the market at the end of the first quarter of 2021, and Xiaomi and Vivo  have shown interest in these new chips.
