Sony officially unveils the "PlayStation 5" platform

Sony on Thursday officially announced the fifth generation PlayStation, in preparation for launching it to the market by the end of this year.

Although the event, which lasted about an hour, was intended to announce the games that will be available with the PlayStation 5 platform, Sony decided to reveal the platform itself, so that for the first time users could see the design.

The Japanese company presented a review of the design and specifications of the platform, which comes in black and white, for the same platform, console, headphones, controller, and camera.

Upon launch, Sony will offer users one of two options. The first comes with an Ultra HD Blu-ray disc reader, and the other without the reader called PlayStation 5 Digital Edition.

As for the specifications, Sony has previously revealed it, as it contains a dedicated version of the AMD Zen 2 processor with a frequency of 3.5 GHz, and a dedicated version of the AMD RDNA 2 graphics processor with a power of 10.28 teraflop.

The platform includes a 16 GB GDDR6 RAM and an 825 GB SSD. Sony had previously focused on the ability of SSDs to speed up game loading, and compared the two (PlayStation 4) - which do not use technology - and PlayStation 5, as the first took about 20 seconds to download gigabytes of data, while It takes only 1 second to transfer 5 GB of data in the other.

The company said at the time: (PlayStation 5) will not only support SSD - which comes from NVMe SSD - as it will also support external storage discs that will be allocated to support old (PlayStation 4) platform games.

For comparison, the Sony PlayStation 5 platform and Microsoft's Xbox Series X platform share some specifications, including that of the processor and graphics processor. But Microsoft's platform is more powerful with 12 teraflops, instead of 10.28 teraflops. Then the Xbox Storage X internal storage disk will come with a capacity of 1 TB, instead of 825 GB.

This; The platform supports the display of 8K games, and 4K games at 120 fps. It will also support 3D sound technology, and will support the low energy consumption mode for energy saving and compatibility with (PlayStation 4) platform games.
